PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
In all cases, our work together will begin with an in-depth psychological assessment, lasting approximately 90 minutes. It is in this initial assessment that we will start to formulate your experiences. Assessment can be seen as an ongoing and evolving process which we will regularly review through the course of your individual therapy.
In certain situations, you may wish for a formal report to be written for your personal use, for your employer, or for your GP, etc. I am happy to discuss this with your during the assessment period.
All assessment reports are charged at my hourly rate.
To arrange an initial assessment, please contact me on 07449 642 745, or email me directly at drheatherdyson@gmail.com. All contacts are subject to confidentiality as defined by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Following your initial contact, We will arrange a suitable time for an assessment session lasting for 90 minutes. This is an opportunity for us to discuss your difficulties in greater depth, as well as consider whether you would be happy to work with me. If for any reason you feel that I am not the right therapist for you, I will endeavor to refer you to another psychologist.
As well as receiving self referrals, I am also able to accept referrals from GPs, Psychiatrists, and other healthcare professionals. If you are claiming through a private insurance company, this may be a condition of your referral. In this instance, you will need to contact your insurance company prior to booking an appointment.
Subsequent Sessions
If you feel that you would like to pursue therapy, we will agree a specific, weekly time for us to meet and work together. This appointment will be kept solely for your use.
Whilst there are specific techniques and psychological theories which we will utilise during our sessions together, ultimately each session will focus on your needs. I draw upon, humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive models to tailor therapy and inform my therapeutic practice. I am able to offer both long and short term therapy and this can be discussed collaboratively during our initial sessions.
To arrange an appointment, please contact me on 07449 642 745, or email me directly at drheatherdyson@gmail.com. All contacts are subject to confidentiality as defined by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
EQUINE FACILITATED PSYCHOTHERAPY
Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFPT) is a experiential, holistic, and specialist therapy for a range of mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Therapy sessions are taken out of a room-based environment, into a paddock, with one or more horses. Through your interactions with the horse, you will gain insights into your own thoughts, behaviours and emotions, developing emotional regulation skills and increasing your confidence.
Equines are unique in their ability to notice human emotional incongruence, consequently helping us to recognise and process our own emotional experiences. EFPT provides individuals to reflect upon their own interpersonal interactions within a safe, non-judgemental relationship
Sessions last for between 50 to 80 minutes.
